@Florencefl I think what you are looking at is a 'true' smokey eye. Yes, you do use a lighter color near the crease because you are working with a gradient ( hers being from a dark purple to medium to a light shade)

This trick is actually a daily life saver for me. I am very pale year round but love to warm up with countouring...as long as I match my neck I know I haven't gone to far ;)
