The solar arrays are part of the trunk. They are not part of the Dragon spacecraft. The Dragon spacecraft itself at this point is the only system that is reusable. The Trunk is NOT part of the spacecraft. Think of it as an extension system for the spacecraft.

The reason for feathered flight is because you avoid the high reentry speeds that a suborbital capsule or normal space plane would produce. You reenter at a slower velocity and you do not need the heat shielding those spacecraft need.

This is not really the way the capsule looked at splashdown. The capsule was torn apart to study it. The seams don't even line up now. For Spacex's image, this does more harm than good as most people don't understand this fact. It now looks like a Frankenstein's monster.

This was the final static test that worked for Falcon 9/ Dragon flight 2. When the controller says abort he is just saying that the firing has been aborted not the test has been aborted. The firing test lasted just a bit more that 2 seconds, just enough to bring all 9 engines up to full throttle....

I thought there might be something wrong the rockets guidance system at first but, it seems to be the same as the first launch. A very strange lift off. The rocket seems to pitch to the left and then to the right ina very radical fashion.
