The Cosmic Lounge presents Jungle Music: 'You're Not Alone' by Olive.
"Two of its members, producers Tim Kellett and Robin Taylor-Firth, had departed from their respective groups, Simply Red and Nightmares on Wax, prior to forming Olive with vocalist Ruth Ann Boyle, who Kellett had met while recording her vocals for live manipulation at a Durutti Column concert.
The group released their first single, "You're Not Alone" in 1996. Although the song took a year for audiences in England to catch onto, it eventually made number one in 1997. Popularity in America and Australia was muted, with the track coming short of an American Top 40 position and being restricted to a small musical niche with Australians. "Outlaw" followed not long after, with similar responses, as well as their first album, Extra Virgin in 1996.
In 2000, their presciently-named second album Trickle was released. Taylor-Firth had left the group, bringing it down to a duo. While Trickle still displayed the distinctive Olive sound, the tunes were more dance-oriented. The best known song on this album was a cover of the 10cc song "I'm Not in Love,", which was featured on the movie The Next Best Thing.
Since then, like many trip-hop bands, little has been heard of them. The band have stopped working together for the moment. Tim is focussing on songwriting for other artists so that he can spend more time with his family. Ruth Ann completed work on her first solo album "What About Us?" at the end of 2004."

The Cosmic Lounge presents Jungle Music: 'Opaque' by Aquasky.
"Aquasky is a breaks and jungle group comprised of Dave Wallace, Kieron Bailey & Brent Newitt. In early 1995 they got together to produce their own music. Shortly afterwards they sent a demo tape to moving shadow records and the seeds of a musical alliance were sown. The first single 'Dezires / Images' (Shadow 64) was released three months later and remixed by Krust (Shadow 64R).
Originally a drum and bass outfit the trio have more recently become involved in the breaks scene originally using the moniker Aquasky vs. Masterblaster to denote their breaks projects and retaing Aquasky for Drum & Bass. The addition of Masterblaster however led to great confusion amongst fans who kept looking for a new member. Due to this Masterblaster has now been dropped and everything is once again being released under the name Aquasky. The trio are also responsible for creating and running the Passenger label established in 1997 (as well as its sister label 777 established in 2004) which continues to release their style of heavy Drum & Bass influenced breaks. Their latest effort is the 'Teamplayers' EP which features collaborations with many influential electronic artists including The Breakfastaz, Tayo, The Ragga Twins and Meat Katie."
