@caesarruizps True, but it's only a half step lower. With his age compared to the rest of the band's, I suspect the reason they've tuned down a half step has to do with the band's backup vocals instead of the lead vocalist.

@thenazz32 Well, that's not entirely true. Neil got the publishing royalties, but not the mechanical royalties (except for his version). The Monkees made a good deal off the mechanical royatlies for their version, but I think Neil probably made more in the end.
