Ben Thomason lives and teaches violin in the North Los Angeles, Pasadena, and San Gabriel Valley Areas. He began to play violin at the age of 3 in a Suzuki Violin program in Boulder, Colorado. Ben has continued to play violin throughout his life, and now has over ten years of performance experience with local and professional symphonies, including the Whitman College Symphony, The Walla Walla Symphony, and currently both the Occidental College-Cal Tech Orchestra and the Santa Monica Symphony. Ben was the winner of the Whitman College Concerto Competition in 2003, and performed as soloist with the Whitman Symphony throughout the Portland area in 2004 as a result. He graduated "cum laude" from Whitman College (in Walla Walla, Washington) with a B.A. in Music in 2006, with Honors in his major study, Violin Performance. Ben has taught violin for eight years, and has recently completed training in teaching the Suzuki Method through Violin Book 2. (Please visit www.suzukiassociation.org for more information.)
