After an incendiary performance while on break from college, Ukiah, California's AFI had no choice but to pursue their fire inside full time. Several scorching releases with indie label Nitro propelled the band to indie hardcore prominence. AFI's signing with major label Interscope marked their ascent from cult favorites to required listening. Decemberunderground was a great leap forward for AFI, and a mass audience burned inside along with them.

Jade- when asked about partying with celebrities: "Lot of douchebags, but its nice you know its fun to go and be in that world a little bit as long as you don't get caught up in it and become one of those douchebags."
Davey: A girl in Salt Lake once asked me 'Why are you wearing make-up, are you a fag?'
I then said 'Well, if I'm a fag for wearing make-up, you must be a dyke in blue jeans.'
I also informed her that she was just angry because I was prettier than she was.
Davey: "My ideal girl should be smart, drug free, and hot. People say its not important, but it is...oh and she can't hate me either."
Interviewer: Isn't it weird to think your faces are on a lot of bedroom walls?
Davey: We don't think of ourselves in those terms. It may be true but it's hard to think of ourselves in those terms.
Hunter: I have a poster of Adam on my bedroom wall

Q: How has AFI changed since you were signed and put out your first album?
DAVEY: We shave now
