When I first heard "Smile" I knew I was going to make a remix of it, I just didn't know exactly how I was going to do it. I've been on something of a disco house kick as of late and I wanted to find a way to integrate that with this remix, so I began looking for samples that would fit with the chords of the song (which is what I did for my remix of Giggle at the Ghosties). As I worked on the track like that though nothing I was coming up with sounded any good, and the process of finding single chords throughout tons of songs is arduous and time-consuming so I thought "how could I do a disco house track, but still maintain as much of "Smile" as possible?" That's when the idea hit me, build a structure that sounds good out of whatever song I wanted, then mix "Smile" into that structure. This is the result of that experiment and I must say I'm quite happy with how it turned out.

It's Finally Done! I hope you guys appreciate this because it took a truckload of my time transposing it from ear, planning it, then building it by hand. The materials are of course given to myself (I'm not about to gather 30,000 wood for something that already took this long)
overall i'm glad the way it came out. This was my first time using note blocks so it took a little experimenting before i came up with this two-layer design from other designs i had seen. Luckily as i play piano, it wasn't too hard to figure out harmonies and arpeggios etc.
Unfortunately there's a little glitch at the start due to fraps, minecraft, and redstone lag, but it's fine for the rest of the video. I recorded several times and this was the best take. The redstone lag does irritate me after all this time but there's little i can do about that.
The song itself consists of 2820 note blocks, and the pixel art at the end is around 1360 blocks
Minecraft is now (If it wasn't already) 20% cooler.
