About this user

First and foremost I am a Christian Conservative. Politically, I consider myself a Constitutionalist and Patriot as I believe this most accurately expresses my political viewpoints and mindset.

My career for the past 26 years has been in the protective services profession. In addition to the tactical training and disaster preparedness/training associated with my profession, I am a combatives and edged weapons instructor and the founder of B.A.S.H. Combatives; a volunteer agitator/decoy for security and law enforcement K9 units; EMT trained (expired); Swiftwater Rescue trained (expired); and a former jump master for a bungee jumping company.

In more recent years my love of the outdoors and adventure has led to a study of wilderness survival skills. My initial introduction to these skills was through participation in the Sierra Club's Wilderness Travel Course; and shortly thereafter I attended a survival skills workshop with Gene Ward (former USAF survival instructor). Following that was a multi-day trek into the backcountry of Yosemite National Park. Since then I have conducted extensive research on the subject and have organized numerous "dirt time" outings with like-minded friends and associates; as well as a number of solo excursions. My involvement in wilderness survival training has led to an interest in bushcraft as well.

With the way the world seems to be headed and my desire for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, it comes as no surprise that I now have a growing interest in "off-the-grid" self-reliant living.

As for continued training, some of the organizations I hope to train with in 2012 include: Ancient Pathways; Earth Skills; Survival Training School of California; Wilderness Medicine Institute; and Alpine Training Services.
