MUNICH, GERMANY - JANUARY 21: The herd of elephants say goodbye to Lola the dead elephant calf at Hellabrunn Zoo on January 21, 2012 in Munich, Germany. A baby elephant who tragically died at a German zoo is brought back before her herd so they can say goodbye. Lola, a three month old elephant, died on 21st January 2012, during a CT scan ahead of an operation to fix a serious heart defect. Lola's body was brought back to the herd at Hellabrunn Zoo in Munich, on Saturday afternoon, so that her mother, Panang (22), could say her goodbyes to her in peace. Afterwards the herd gently nuzzled the lifeless body with their trunks and took their leave of her.

TENNESSEE, USA: Calvino Inman, who suffers from a rare disorder that makes him cry tears of blood tears, at his home in Rockwood, Tennessee. Calvino Inman, 16, is taunted at school for being possessed as bloody tears seep from his eyes for up to an hour. Doctors have so far been unable to diagnose the condition. One theory is that Calvino has Haemolacria which literally means, Bloody Tears. Calvino, of Rockwood, Tennessee, said: "I feel it coming up, like a tear, sometimes it will burn."

This pint-sized-daredevil displays the courage of a grown man as he jumps from a plane 14,000ft above the skies of Mexico. Taken in 2008, then five-year-old Alan Lachman fulfilled a life-long dream when his father allowed him to tandem jump with family friend and legendary skydiver Antonio Montano from the small propeller driven aircraft. Leaving nothing to chance, Alan and his father Aaron, who is a pilot, spent months planning the jump, double-checking everything from the reserve parachute to the safety harnesses that the young boy would rely on. Making that jump in 2008, Alan, now aged seven is busy planning his next ascent into the skies.

DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES: Incredible never-before-seen footage from the top of the world's tallest building. The jaw-dropping Burj Dubai is a mega structure its makers hoped would show off Dubai's new wealth and industrial might. Cash-strapped developers will finally end a six-year slog to put up the colossal building with a glitzy ceremony on Monday January 4, 2010. But these images show the half-completed mess hidden inside it's towering walls as the city's big day looms. Photographs taken on New Years Eve show a ramshackle of bare concrete walls, piles of unused materials and exposed pipes. Construction workers are also visible racing to make finishing touches. Thousands are said to have been rushed in over the weekend before the inauguration in a desperate push to complete the job.

ROCKBANK, AUSTRALIA: Vicki Lowing, 52, has treated Johnie the crocodile like another child since he was left on her doorstep in 1996 by an anonymous person. Johnie was very underweight and unhealthy but Vicki set up a large tank in her front room for him and nursed him back to health. But Vicki's devotion to Johnie did not impress her then husband Greg who gave her an ultimatum, either Vicki gave up Johnie or Greg would leave. But Vicki said: Husbands can look after themselves but my crocodile can't make his meals. So, after a lengthy split, the couple divorced in 2005. Greg went out and worked 12 hours a day, seven days a week. But when he got home, he found it frustrating that I spent my time concentrating on Johnie. I think he became jealous of the amount of time I spent with Johnie," said Vicki.
