We repair Laptops with video chip issues.

We have plenty of experience fixing this kind of problem. We work in our garage to keep low costs

Common Symptoms:
Affected laptops receive power, the lights turn on, but either nothing appears on the screen, or garbled video appears on the screen. In many cases, the laptop will turn off briefly then try to start again. This will happen over and over. Certain Intel based laptops will not boot at all, instead, the laptop will beep three times and freeze. These are known problems for many HP and Compaq laptops, in fact, HP extended the warranty period for many laptop models but the extension is now expired for most owners. About 95% of affected laptops can be repaired and restored to like new condition using professional solder re-flow equipment. Once repaired, additional copper heat sink material will be added to help prevent a similar problem in the future.

This repair service also applies to the following HP and Compaq laptop models:
HP Pavilion dv2000, dv6000, and dv9000 series
HP tx1000 and tx2000 series, Compaq V3000, V6000, F500, and F700 series

What does the service include?
Professional infrared reflow equipment is used to repair the video chip. Over time, heating and cooling causes the solder under the video chip to develop very small cracks that eventually prevent the laptop from starting. Many amateur attempts to repair the chip use heat guns or other heating sources. There are two problems with repairs that do not use professional equipment. First, spot heating of the video chip without first heating the entire board can cause the board to warp, blister and/or delaminate. Second, temperature control during the heating of the board and the video chip must be very precise. Both the board temperature and the temperature of the video chip during the reflow operation must be very tightly controlled. We use a professional infrared solder reflow work station that properly heats the entire circuit board and uses infrared temperature controlled heat to reflow the video chip solder.

Here are the repair steps we use:
Inspect and test the laptop to verify the need to reflow the video chip
Disassemble the laptop and remove the motherboard
Remove the CMOS battery, CPU, fan and heat sink assemblies
Prepare the motherboard with solder flux and proper heat shielding
Mount the board on the reflow workstation and reflow the video chip solder
Clean the fan and heat sink assembly and all interior parts
Partially assemble the laptop to test the repair
Reassemble the laptop and fully clean the exterior
Retest all laptop components
Carefully package and mail the laptop using USPS.

What happens if my laptop cannot be repaired?
If we are unable to repair your laptop you will receive a full refund of the $50 repair charge and the laptop will be returned to you via USPS.

Is there a warranty on the service?
The following warranty applies only if your laptop motherboard was not previously repaired:If the laptop fails with the same problem during the first 30-days following the repair, you can ship it to us and we will repair and return it to you at no charge. You only pay the shipping cost to send it to us.
