Can't help you there I don't code anything. The way I modified Super mario 64 was using the editor Toads Tool to manipulate the game. I can't even do that any more due to the slow speed and laggyness that toads tool editor runs on a dual core compared to a single core.

Sorry bout that but I don't have any rom hacks I don't really play with emulators and roms much anymore. Course has you know I used to attempt modding of rom's but I never really modded more then just mario 64.

The only n64 emulator I use is Project 64 how ever it has some problems on 64-bit windows 7 there is others out there though has I said before like mupen64. Mupen64 has the best emulator for netplay you need to just research what you will need. I swore I already told you all you needed to know before though >.> and yes I'm always here I am always on the interwebs. (intheshadowsbuahahahh) due to youtube preventing comment links nowerdays just look up on google "Mupgen64 netplay" that should give you all the info you need to get the right roms and stuff to play online now depending on how smooth it will be thats on your internet connection area AND hardware.
