About Me:

In my professional life I taught psychology in college for more than 30 years, and also coached the college tennis team for several years. I still get an adrenalin rush from tennis matches, and have been fortunate to be able to continue playing as I age. I do find that tennis and music require similar dedication and focus, and both provide enormous satisfaction.
I'm finding that most of my time is spent on music these days--increasing my repetoire, developing new arrangements, and playing as many as six or seven gigs per week.
Although I play some songs that have been arranged by others, I generally prefer to start with a lead sheet or fake book version (melody and chords only) and work out my own arrangement from that.
I've found that preparing youtube videos has forced me to be more thoughtful about how I develop arrangements, and to spend more time getting the music to the point where I can play it with a minimum of errors, and without music. I'm fortunate to be able to learn songs relatively quickly, and almost never use music on a gig.
I use the Roland V-Accordion, which allows me to play gigs with a minimum of extra baggage--at most a small speaker or two. I have minimal set-up time and very little to carry, other than the Roland and a folding stool. Quite a contrast from the days when I used a midi accordion and needed two trips or a cart to carry all my gear, and then had a variety of cords to connect and test before sitting down to play.
In most of my youtubes I am experimenting with different features of the Roland FR-7x. The possibilities for programming and playing the instrument are unlimited.

When desire to listen to a Roland accordion, I look for its videos because she is the person whom more taste and security it prints in his interpretations with this instrument. Greetings from Madrid (Spain) of a great admirer of its art and technique. Juian Antonio

Hey Richard, you once asked me what I might like to hear you play. At the time, I said that I would like anything that you played and I still feel the same way.
However, recently I heard a rendition of "12th Street Rag", a song that I used to listen to as a child sitting on the piano bench beside my uncle, Horace Lowe. If you could post a video of you playing this song, I would be eternally indebted.

Hi Richard, thanks for some lovely art, has been very inspired by to hear you, even playing the accordion for many years, most recently a Hohner company vox 4, but has now switched to a Roland Fr-7, a really nice instrument.
Hope you continue to record those delightful melodies.
Best Regards Allan Gregersen
