An original version of Carmina Burana sung in Latin with acoustic guitar sets the musical backdrop for a visual poem about a man running on the freeways of Los Angeles in search of his other...
Originally produced for a showing at the John Anson Ford theater in Los Angeles and receiving critical acclaim: "...clever films by Kenneth Hughes offered ultra-close-ups of Hysterica personnel, collages of found objects, animals and vistas-plus, in "Mr. Freeway," a cherishable vision of a Southland jogger transfixed by love." --(Lewis Segal/LA Times)

Ed Wood's THE VAMPIRE'S TOMB!
Savage suspense - delirious despair! Watch souls shredded in two in the vortex of perpetual hell! The wind screams for revenge, the air stinks of death... morbid fantasies of the damned come to life in an orgy of madness...
In 2000 we shot about 60-70% of this unproduced Edward D. Wood, Jr. project intended for Bela Lugosi in Chicago in four or five days in a high pitched, melodramatic gothic soap opera style...
The tapes sat on a shelf for ages until the "Lugosi Problem" was solved... in a thoroughly chiropractorish fashion, as it turned out. Plus there was the fact that the whole "Vampire" thing mentioned in the title hadn't actually been shot yet. The rest of the script was shot on hideously outdated Ukranian Super-8, Double-X 16mm, and Tri-X Super-8 in Spring 2006 in Brooklyn, New Jersey, Doylestown, and Astoria and is dedicated to all those who have owed film labs bills for decades and to the Shirley inside all of us... with voiceover help from Philip Proctor from the Firesign Theatre and the almighty Criswell... thanks to everyone involved for the unspeakably strange experience across the gulf of bad continuity.

During Marc
a story by molly harvey music by kristin palker a film by andre perkowski
During March 2007 we had a brief stopover in Atlanta which involved a frenzied visit with Molly Harvey, a massively talented and wonderful associate of those sons of fun, The Residents... I remember sitting up front at the Fillmore ten years previously having my brain rearranged into neat little sections by their amazing productions. I think I sucked up both Halloween shows in a row and wandered back to Chinatown in a daze.
Sputtering some brief summary of soaking up their many fine tours of recent years, I started wildly aiming a Super-8 camera and sleazy 70s microphone around. We improvised a few silly rolls, talked about the worst pizza in the country, the agonies of the isolated artist, and did a lot of ridiculous voices. Then it was back to the airport. Thanks, Molly!
Here's a little excerpt...
