Pianist Ko Chuan Li, born in Kuala Lumpur in the year of 1987, began his formative piano lesson at the age of eight under Ms Lee Chun Chien. He graduated from UCSI University with Bachelor of Classical Music (Hons.) in 2009, and continued to study piano under Ms Chee Su-yen. Under her tutelage he earned his Associate, Licentiate and Fellowship Diplomas in Piano Performance, awarded by the Trinity College of London. His deep interest in music did not only lie in piano performance; he also took composition lessons from renowned Malaysian composer, Ms Adeline Wong and had composed several chamber and orchestral works; while also taking violin lessons with Mr. Steven Boey Chung Cheak.

With a burning passion for music, Chuan Li was closely associated with musical activities since his teenage time, joining the Chinese Orchestral band during his secondary school and has also picked up Er-hu, a type of Chinese fiddle. He also involved extensively as the piano accompanist for his secondary school's choir ensemble and solo singers, for various settings such as concerts, competitions and graduation ceremony.

During Chuan Li's fruitful university life, he performed extensively as a piano accompanist in solo recitals, competitions, concerts, masterclasses and juries for many soloists such as vocalists, string and wind instrumentalists; and for big ensemble such as the university choir, at numerous places and settings. He was also chosen many times by UCSI as a piano soloist to participate in piano masterclasses conducted by internationally famous pianists such as Dr. Kang Juyeon, Mr. Ng Chong Lim and Dr. Nicholas Ong; as well as performing in Segi College's masterclasses, given by Mr. Shiro Yamamoto and Jürg Henneberger.

Chuan Li has been participating in many piano competitions as well. He won the 2nd prize in the Malaysian Youth Orchestra Foundation festival competition (Romantic works category) in September 2007. In March 2008 he emerged as the Roland Piano Festival Malaysia's 1st prize winner of the Classical Piano Solo category, and also the 1st prize of the Classical Piano Duet category. In November he was one of the semi-finalists of the 3rd ASEAN International Chopin Piano Competition. Most recently, He received the Gold Award in the Solo Piano category, as well as the 3rd Prize in the Chamber Music Competition (Piano Trio) in 3rd Performers Festival organized by Singapore Music Teachers Association in June 2010. He was also one of the finalists of Young Pianist Competition 2010 organized by Dynamicworkz in Singapore.

Apart from that, he was also an active and seasoned solo performer, having been invited as a guest performer in a competition held by I-melodic music centre in 2007. He had participated in Night of the Key organized by Roland Asia Pacific in August 2008, as well as the 1st Asia Grand Piano Concert organized by Persatuan Chopin Malaysia in June 2009, which was performed by many pianists around the world. Most recently, he was invited to perform in Dewan Filharmonik Petronas in Kuala Lumpur as a piano accompanist in a cello concert organized by Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also experienced performing in different setting such as piano lounge in Busaba Heavenly Thai Restaurant.

Chuan Li has been accepted into Taxes State University in San Marcos U.S with scholarships to pursue his Masters of Music in Piano Performance this 2011 Spring and will continue to follow his passion in the piano performance line.
