The idea that there was a genocide of Turks in Cyprus is complete and utter nonsense, and is used as an excuse to justify the 'summary executions and retributions' committed against Greeks in 1974. And even if the Turkish minority were subject to harsh treatment during the attempts in the 1960s by the Cyprus government to root out Turkish terrorism on the island ? and I don't believe there was harsh treatment ? in no circumstances can this justify, morally or legally, 'summary executions and retributions'. And let's be clear, these 'retributions' included massacre of Greek civilians of all ages, deportations, mass rape ? in fact, all the well-known facets of ethnic cleansing. And one more thing, the Turks in Cyprus were not forced by Greeks into enclaves and from government but withdrew on the instructions of Ankara and the Turkish terror group TMT as a prelude to Turkish invasion, which would enforce the partition that had been created on the ground.
