The human mind has a tendency to fool itself, it is not perfect, just as nothing is in nature, and this is true for all individuals. If people would be more skeptical of their surroundings and their personal convictions above all, do the effort of researching and checking sources, not twisting around their conclusions to fit on whatever you want, the human species moves little steps forward, accumulating to help us get rid of what has caused the largest setback from our advance to a better understanding of our environment: blind faith.
Questioning a topic related to a scientific theory is best conducted by consulting scientists in that field and their literature, not scientists with no background in the field, not by jurists, lawyers, preachers, feminists, and definitely not dimwits (e.g. creationist advocates).
