Same thing happend to me a week ago when we landed in Reykjavik... we had to wait for three and a half hours for the wind to subside... never experienced such a policy before, it was not a real storm or anything... just strong wind...I don't understand why the plane could not get to the terminal?...

I've got belly ache of laughing.... :)))

It's neither.... absolutely no Heifetz.... I am not sure H. ever played this concerto...Heifetz has always something nervous about his playing, nervousness in his speed, vibrato, everything.... nor can it be Oistrakh...the recording sounds too good and clean for that... trumpets, all other instru...

Poor Khachaturian, if he knew what they did to his music....

Reminds me very much of Shostakovich' late quartets....

1'35" to 1'45" reminds me of Mahler's orchestrating (horns, orchestral violence...)

@mrcharles007 Yes it is completely safe.... believe me.... after all, we're a little 'black' ourselves... hahaha;)) perhaps you will notice being stared at at times (probably in rural areas), but that will just be out of curiosity... not because of hostile feelings.... have a good and safe trip...

Such a good idea of Dudamel to always double or triple the scoring as prescribed by the composer, the result is amazing, as you can see... and hear... works perfectly also with the Turangalila symphony by Messiaen... also to be found on YouTube, performed at the Royal Albert Hall I believe.... tr...

A genius of a composer.... completely underrated... whilst Britten is overrated if you ask me.... Arnold is the author of brillantly orchestrated symphonic works, heaped with original ideas... same goes for Walton, incidentally... but both are rarely recorded nowadays.... it's Britten everywhere ...

@elgar34 I think so too.... what a unique piece of music...Messiaen is such a unique man.... there is no composer who wrote music which sounds so original, with only Messiaen who could have written it.... what a good idea to expand the orchestral apparatus... sounds much better than the original....
