Yes its called the Opticon System. Not all cities have it though, the Huston Texas incident involved that system. It gave the Engine the green light and the Ladder truck the red light.

No they are not suppose to wait for the light to turn green....but you are not to ever ever just run a red light!!! Even when we are going to a emergency with emergency warning equiptment activated!!! How many times in the news have we seen fire truck strikes car, fire truck kills driver while responding, or even here lately downin Huston TX Fire truck strikes Fire truck responding to house fire killing 1 and Sending 9 ffs to the hospital......and guess what the Ladder truck Driver blew the red light in that incident just like this video shows a ladder blowing a red light here..... To help we must get onscene and if getting there means taking 3 or more secs to slow down and take an extra look before crossing the interesection then so be it!
