@99yogotti turn your phone off. then hold the circle button for 15 seconds and plug it in to your laptop
itunes will detect it as in recovery mode, click restore and update and your phone will be restored... happened to e too, just need to restore it and try again

@kassdogga, it worked for me, from telstra to optus.
when it says the file download is out of date, you just need to click upgrade software (essential), turn off your 3g, turn your phone off, put in your optus sim and start it up again.
