most tonsillectomies don't use "wire loops" (tonsil snares) anymore, unless the doc's old school. electrocautery (ESU) is the way to go--minimal bleeding, no suturing required, and fast.
also, most excised tonsils don't get to go home with the patient--they go to the lab. :)

i wasn't aware that the gb always comes out during this procedure. also, that seems like a pretty large/"healthy" margin of pancreas being taken out. i think that varies with the severity of the adenocarcinoma. i've never heard of the appendix being removed--i know during many abdominal procedure...
