A Special Message for Atlanta Boy Choir Alumni
Fletcher Wolfe has indeed returned as Director of the Atlanta Boy Choir and wants you to participate in the Alumni Men's Choir which meets every Tuesday Night at the Boy Choir House at 7:30 PM. For more information, phone: 404-378-0064. Join our brotherhood of singers!
2011 marks the 54th season of the Atlanta Boy Choir. Throughout those great years, thousands of boys have passed through our doors young and not sure of what lay in store for them upon entering; older, wiser and ready for the next chapter of their lives upon exiting. Many of you continued singing into your adult years. Some are teachers, attorneys, physicians, accountants, scientists, husbands or fathers; but all are better equipped as young men because of your experience in the Atlanta Boy Choir.
This group represents those boys, now men, who were privileged to sing with the Atlanta Boy Choir. We continue to adhere to a life-long appreciation of music, an abiding love of beauty, a keen sense of respect for ourselves and others, and we remain leaders in our families, our communities, and the world. If you are an Alumnus, you may also join The Atlanta Boy Choir Alumni Association Facebook Group,
The Atlanta Boy Choir, Alumni Men's Choir, and Africantori continue 54 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE!
Once again under the direction of founder and Grammy Award winning conductor, Maestro Fletcher Wolfe, The Atlanta Boy Choir continues its world renowned performances having completed an exceptional tour of Italy in June, 2010 and a unprecedented concert series throughout the Kenai Penenusla in Alaska during the June 2011 Summer tour.
Major venues and concerts included: The Vatican, Rome; St. Francis Basilica, Assisi; Siena Cathedral; The Annunzita Courtyard, Sulmona; Basilica di Santa Maria Assunta, San Gimignano, Italy; Anchorage, Kenai, Homer, and Sweard, Alaska.
Featured on the tours were the newly formed Atlanta Boy Choir Alumni Choir, Africantori ensemble. Benjamin Beilman- violin, Robert Henry, piano, Candace Keach- flute, Susan Brady, Harp, Barbara Mitchell- violin, and Linda Ottum, Celo.
For many years it was said that Europeans knew our city because of Coca-Cola and the Atlanta Boy Choir. This was because for forty-five years these wonderful young boys under the direction of Fletcher Wolfe sang in practically every concert hall, cathedral and music festival in the world. They sang to audiences in England, Scotland, Wales, France, Germany, Spain, Morocco, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Finland and Russia not to mention tours in Mexico, Alaska, Nova Scotia and British Columbia.
Their visits abroad have included performances for many heads of state as well as five performances given at St Peters in Rome with Pope John Paul II officiating. They have appeared several times at the White House and were invited to sing at President Carter's inauguration. The Atlanta Boy Choir has appeared many times with Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Conductors Robert Shaw and Yoel Levi and won a Grammy Award for the recording of Benjamin Brittens War Requiem.
