i wouldnt class Nirvana a grunge band...yeah sure 'Bleach' was as grunge as they got and 1 or 2 songs from 'in utero' but id say they were more pointed towards post punk rock...

i reckon its about someone trying to get over addiction of (some sort) and using a substitute of (some sort), its abit simular to Nirvana's 'Anurysem' in away where it can be interperted as a love 'sick' song or be about heroin addiction. just saying :)
