Ash Mandrake is solo touring entertainer and recording artist. He is known for his double-neck leather-bound guitar, his use of loop machines, his story telling and his leather hats (which he makes himself. He is an unsigned emerging talent who began playing in Bath UK in 2005. He became The 11th Bard of Bath in 2007, formed a band, protested against bank charges, and encouraged people to grow pumpkins. In September 2008 he began his solo tour of the UK, and is due to begin touring again in March 2009.

Ashs work is very varied, and includes comedy, performance poetry, story telling and serious music. It is also important to note that everybody starts by saying Its difficult to describe, because it isnt really like anything else.
It sits most comfortably in the genre of folk rock, but there are elements of world music, blues and jazz. There are medieval elements, but with a very modern take.
On the psych-folk/freak-folk front some have made comparisons with Gong, Comus, Doctor Strangely Strange, The Incredible String Band. On the serious music front some have mentioned Tim Buckley, Roger Waters, Jethro Tull, Peter Hamill, Pavaroti.

The band was formed by Ash and performed live mainly in Bath UK and Glastonbury Festival between 11/2006 and 07/2008. After an ill fated trip to Leicester in March 2008 levels of commitment to the band changed and Ash decided to tour the uk solo, Daniel got married and went back to Germany, Cath started playing with local bands and Amadou learned guitar and started playing open mics. For more than a year they had a creatively productive time and a hell of a lot of fun, which you will be able to see in the videos (RIP)
