This is part 2 of a film shot by my dad in 1967-68 when he was in the British Merchant Navy.
This film follows his travels aboard the bulk carrier Oakwood on his final voyage at sea from 1967 to 1968. This part features footage of my dad working on the ship, mainly painting and looking like a scruffy caveman (check out the Rolling Stones hair cut). Other footage is mainly of ocean going and putting down anchor at their destination in Chile ready for loading up of ore for the return trip (see part 3 for this).
I edited this film together and used music from his record and cd collection, some of it music from the 1960's which helps to give it that extra bit of authenticity.

This is the final part of a film shot by my dad in 1967-68 when he was in the British Merchant Navy.
This film follows his travels aboard the bulk carrier Oakwood on his final voyage at sea from 1967 to 1968. This part features footage of the loading of ore onto the ship in Chile and then more footage of the return trip which includes a finale of rough seas on the Atlantic.

As a huge Pink Floyd fan and after hearing the sad news of Syd passing away I felt compelled to make this short tribute slide show to celebrate his life.
This I think is the first tribute video to appear on You Tube after his death was announced in the media, and also the first to not use the obvious choices of 'Wish You Were Here' or 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond', I chose 'See Emily Play' mainly because after Syd had seen a documentary about himself in 2002 he commented about how it was good to hear 'Emily' again, that was a good enough reason for me to choose this song.
When I heard the news it took me a little over an hour to complete this video while my feelings of his loss were still fresh, it's not as fancy or polished as it could have been but it's the feeling I wanted to convey.
