The New Zealand Association of Social Anthropologists (NZASA) was established in 1975 and held its first Annual General Meeting in August 1976. At that AGM its constitution was ratified unanimously.
In August 1997 it changed its name to the Association of Social Anthropologists of Aotearoa/New Zealand.
