My name is Ray Tomes. I have a lot of interests and so have divided some of them into several playlists.

Wobbly Universe is all about cycles (meaning repeating conditions at regular time intervals) in every branch of science and human study. I have spent decades studying cycles in everything. Also called periodicity or cyclicity.

Myanmar Gold is about the fact that S N Goenka learned vipassana meditation in Myanmar (Burma) and has spread it around the world. It includes videos from Myanmar.

Just Thinking is about social, political, environmental an economic issues.

aRTy stuff is a bit lighter being anything funny or interesting that I happened to film.

Alternative Cosmology concerns sensible science that does not take the big bang as an article of faith.

My apologies if you have contacted me and not got a reply. At times I have been very inactive on YouTube. Please try again if you are wanting an answer. I have done my best to clear the backlog. Have fun!
About Me:

Sort of renaissance man with wide interests in science, art, music, reading. Studied cycles in natural phenomena for many years. Practice vipassana meditation. My email is ray(at)tomes(dot)biz

Miamistorm, yes, there are mass extinction cycles. The dominant one is 27 million years and a less strong one of 37 million years. So I expect a more minor event in 4 million years, a stronger one in 14 million years and a really major mass extinction event in 41 million years.

Ray, is there a cycle time frame for mass extinction events here on earth and if so how frequently do they occur and when is the next expected? Thanks for the immensely interesting, impressive and informative video collection you've produced here on YouTube.

Yes, YogiToad, I will make more. Do you have any particular cycles subject request?

Thanks everyone for the kind comments.

Spacetimewarp, I only just saw your question. Actually it is even more weird than you say. If you add amplitudes you get 2x amplitude which is 4x power, so where did the extra come from? Actually, the assumptions are oversimplified. Any two real waves will have different points of origin and so will be in and out of phase in different places. So it turns out that the average power is exactly two, just as it should be.

P.P.S. And I thought it was tinatus.

Dear Ray,
As an unacademic string twanging, park dwelling pot smoker I have (in a sort of tuned in hippie kind of way) I became aware of just what you say. The universe is making a good fist of trying to stay hip. It is so nice to find affirmation here.
Yours sincerely.
Luke Coulson.
P.S. Full spectrum analysis pending, I'd say it rings like a bell.
