I always liked Roberta Peters. I wasn't necessarily a huge "fan" (I prefer Callas, Sutherland, Caballe, etc)....BUT I do agree that to this day she is STILL my favorite Gilda EVER. BRAVA Ms. Peters!

I love her voice. But she doesn't have the fire for this role like Callas had. Sounds like she could, though. Medea just needs to be sung less beautifully.

Well....I am REALLY impressed!!!! Until today I have not heard a soprano worth listening to in this role other than Callas. But I REALLY enjoy Gencer's performance here. Still not as much as Callas...but at least she is comparable. Thank you for posting.

Ok. So he cracked a little. Guess that proves his voice was not a flawless machine. But even so, in this very same recording he was still the most phenomenal tenor of his era (other than maybe Domingo who is also phenomenal).
