@eyadove: It may be a sacred text, but it isn't simple recitation. When tones are sustained in length and on the breath over that wide a range, trust me: you've got singing. This goes well beyond a spoken text on various pitches, or a sprechstimme as in the part of the Speaker in Schoenberg's...

It sounds like Callas and I don't think it could be anyone else, but I doubt that she could have sung like this after 1970. If it is a rehearsal, I should guess it's from the Paris Normas and she saves herself by leaving out a few of the highest phrases. Only a guess. But whenever, I'm very, ve...

Yes, definitely Callas - a studio recording at the end of 1963 - beginning of 1964. Late for her and there is some frailty, but special and affecting as was almost always the case with that utterly unique voice.

I love his almost liquid flow. There almost are no "positions", just fluid movement, unbroken. He can do "flash" when and if he wants to, but that lack of striving for effect and a sense of repose in motion? Wonderful.

@bloodymary1109 It isn't del Monaco in Callas' studio "Turandot", if that's the one you mean; it's Fernandi. Del Monaco did do a studio "Turandot" with Borkh and Tebaldi - and also some live recordings of "Norma" with Callas that have survived.
