About Me:

The Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire was founded in June 1902 in Manchester, NH by a group of concerned citizens. It was formally incorporated on January 15, 1904 as "The Animal Rescue League of Manchester, NH."

The name was officially changed on December 18, 1981 to the Animal Rescue League of NH.

We are a limited admissions shelter following what Maddie's Fund* refers to as a "no-kill" philosophy. We DO NOT euthanize animals to make room for more. We simply stop taking in new animals until we have room. Each homeless pet will remain in our care until he or she finds a new home. We serve residents throughout New England.

Each year, this shelter helps over 1,500 animals by providing them a safe haven until loving, adoptive homes can be found for them. We also intervene in cases of animal cruelty.

*Maddie's Fund is a widely recognized animal welfare leader. It is California-based pet rescue organization foundation that has the goal of creating a world where all healthy & adoptable animals find new homes.
