Ukrainian-American classical guitarist and composer Arina Burcéva has delighted numerous audiences with her artistry. She has performed recitals and taught master classes in the USA, Canada, Europe and South America, was featured on public radio, television and in the written press. She has given concerts at such festivals as the Sierra-Nevada International Guitar Festival in Reno, NV, III International Classical Guitar Festival Festival UANL "Gregorio Rangel Gurrola" in Monterrey, Mexico, XXII Internaitonal Guitar Festival ICPNA in Lima, Peru, Zihuatanejo International Guitar festival in Ixtapa, Mexico, International Guitar Festival "Eduardo Lauredo" in Cochabamba, Bolivia, IX International Guitar Festival in Arequipa, Perú, and such venues as Herbst Theatre in San Francisco, CA, Washington Pavillon in Sioux Falls, SD, Courtleigh Auditorium in New Kingston, Jamaica, Miraflores Auditorium in Lima, Peru, Helsingor Theatre and Royal Academy of Music in Arhus, Denmark, Teatro Municipal in Arica, Chile, just to name a few.
Born in Sumy, Ukraine, Arina was introduced to classical guitar at eight years of age by Marina Azar. By the age of fourteen she became a two-time laureate of the national Zhinovic Classical Guitar Competition, and was awarded a scholarship to study at the Glinka College of Music. A multi-faceted student, she also majored in English and Art History.
Upon immigrating to the U.S. in 2002, Arina won the first prize at the Schubert Club Scholarship Competition. Same year, she was awarded a scholarship to study at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she has earned her BM degree under David Tanenbaum and Dusan Bogdanovic, and her MM degree under the Grammy-award winning guitarist and composer Sergio Assad.
A prolific composer, Arina is inspired by, nature, visual arts, literature, poetry, mythology and personal experiences. Her compositional style reflects elements of such genres as Classical, Romantic, Impressionism and Ethnic music. Her works for solo guitar are published in the U.S.A. by Clear Note Publications.
