I know St. Louis. The north side is definitely bad. I also used to live in Detroit. Rotten to the bone! The big difference between the two cities is that people in "The D" tend to burn it down, not just walk away. Look at the Detroit videos and you'll see how much arson there is.

Part of the wonderful fun of this song is thinking about the London recording studios of that time. You can so clearly hear the production elements in play. And remember - this was cut on a 2inch tape doing 30ips or more, not a computer hard drive. But that's why it sounds SO GOOD!
