OK, let's just make this clear. I don't hate Muslims nor do I advocate any violence agaist them by any means. Hatred is a very powerful word that does more harm to the hater than the hatee. I even pledge to no more use insults against those with whom ideas I disagree.
I just worry because I feel that there are many core Muslim ideals that are incompatible with western thoughts and lifestyles. Freedom of speech is important and a corner stone to human civil rights, and it's a value too precious to take for granted. I am simply utilizing such freedom to keep the dialogue going for the sake of preparing people for what will likelly be a greater clash of ideas in the future.
I am not a fascist who is completly opposed to the idea of multiculturalism.
I am not racist, I have friends of every color and background. And Muslms would be the first to tell you that islam is not a race.
I am not even politically conservative, I consider myself a moderate.
I am also not particularly fond of religious rhetoric. I lean more toward discussing the political and cultural aspects of the situation.
My motto is: Religious freedom is a fabulous idea, but does it have the potential of becoming its own downfall?
After all, freedom of religion only works if it's a reciprocal concept.
By the same token, I really like the idea of tollerance and a world without discrimination. However, like I said, it all has to be reciprocal for it to work.
ALSO, I am well aware of the fact that not all Muslims are violent, and many of them just want to live their lives in peace. However, we have to face the facts that A. radical islam is a growing problem with more people joining the ranks every day...why is that? B. many of the countries with the worst human rights records are Muslim theocracies, what can be done to stop that?
My other interests: ballet, animals and animal rights, classical music, european art and arquitecture, food.
