It may be best to chop it so the plant isn't using it's energy on the runners and instead can focus on root development and transition to new environment. With that being said I don't think it will matter much either way. Thanks for watching.

Definitely should not be placed in a pond where the weather gets too cool during winter. However that is not the case in South Louisiana. Of course these fish as with most common livebearers can actually easily tolerate water temps. into the low 60's. So far two winters and they breed and grow great, will be mixing up the gene pool with new fish soon. Thanks for watching.
