I'm very tall, athletic and energetic. Quickly into my stride in the mornings. Love lay-ins with the papers on a Sunday morning, followed by warm croissants and a strong espresso, or maybe a bacon roll with brown sauce if I feel like slumming it - delicious! What else? I'm supposedly intelligent, yet manage to at the same time do the dumbest things, but I try to smile at everything anyway. I'm very open-minded and have time for everybody (except bigots - who have my deepest sympathy).
In the (distant)! past, I've been a punk, a rocker and a jazz singer. My trio, Misty Muir and the Miss-Fits was a jazz-inspired, ukulele-driven combo that played all over S.E. Asia. More recently, I've been working backwards towards the roots of the music I really like and so I'd describe myself as a guitarist, fiddler, banjo frailer and uke player.
Based in Nottingham, UK, my work as a consultant electrologist pays the bills, and I'd say I fall into the category of enthusiastic amateur acoustic musician. I play a mix of classic americana, blues, old-time and country music and also write and perform my own material.
I make fiddles and other instruments too... including weird double-bass contraptions.

I love to cycle, mostly off road or on country lanes these days. Hikes and long walks are also a favourite activity of mine, usually accompanied by my dog, Rusty. He's a gorgeous lurcher I got almost a year ago.I go camping quite a bit, usually to music events because I love to get together and play tunes around the campfire.
Other than that, I'll be playing fiddle, banjo or guitar and really love American old time music and Americana in general. I write songs too.
I love watching bands, usually friends or little-known artists in small venues. There really aren't many big names I like much, compared to the esoteric and eclectic mix of artists I enjoy. Somehow music always seems better to me when delivered in intimate surroundings.
I got into making fiddles as a hobby, and some folks seem to think I can make them sound pretty good. It has become something of a passion so although an amateur, I do get commissioned to make fiddles for musicians from time to time, and fix up old ones too.
