As you may have already heard, Tom Hughes Chairman and Mc of Darlington Folk Club passed away last week. It cannot be overstated what a contribution Tom Has made over the years to live music in Darlington and he will be sadly missed.

Tom was so supportive of all types of music at every level that I referred to him as "Darlington's very own John Peel" ; He made the very best acts he booked feel hugely appreciated and beginners/newcomers who would get up to play at open mic and singaround sessions feel positive and welcome.

Tom was enthusiastic about every musical project that myself or my family became involved in. When I began to study classical guitar he not only encouraged me to perform test pieces at his singaround sessions but arranged my debut recital at the Folk Club, which by his own admission was taking a quite a risk!

Villa-Lobos was one of the many composers Tom expressed an affinity for and I would like to dedicate this video to him to show my appreciation for all he has done for me and for music in the North East.

Thank you Tom, you are a legend.

Well done to the Cockerton Prize Silver Band for representing both themselves and Darlington admirably at the National Finals on Saturday 24th September.

It was a pleasure to share a platform with you on Wednesday and I would like to show my appreciation to all who helped organise, played at and attended the concert for such a fantastic reception.

I am honoured to be performing with the multi award-winning Cockerton Silver prize band on Wednesday 21st September; 3 days before they compete at the national finals in Cheltenham.

Venue is the Cockerton Club, Cockerton, Darlington Co.Durham.

Doors open at 7.30pm
