Año Uña is written and directed by Jonás Cuarón, son of the famous director Alfonso Cuarón (Children of Men, Y Tu Mamá También, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban). It is an innovative fresh and funny coming-of-age story about an American girl who goes to study Spanish in Mexico City, and the horny 14 year old boy of the family she stays with who falls in love with her and follows her back to New York, much to her surprise.
It is an inventive and wonderfully observed film comprised entirely of still photographs with original and witty voice over dialogue. Variety called it "thoughtful, tender and hip" and the famous Mexican actor Gael Garcia Bernal (Y Tu Mamá También, Motorcycle Diaries, Babel) called it "a perfect film, made with intelligence and, above all, loving care".
