He was born in 1916 so, in 1939, he was 23. Not so much a genius now. One can tell he was at his peak in this piece.

Heifetz pictured on the Queen Mary - crossing the Atlantic. He only recorded this movement of the Ruralia Hungarica. What a shame he did not record it all, or is it lying in the vaults if RCA Victor, unpublished?

I had this on a black label 78rpm, the other side of which was the Introduction and Tarrantele, so this would be the earlier recording as listed in Alberto Bachman's Encyclopedia of 1925.

@wally1435 Sorry but this girl is ruining the delicate intervals of the song and changing it to something of her own. The song is perfect as it was written by the Mcgarrigle sisters. Her intonation is far from perfect as well.

The player is Sergei Stadler studied the violin with David Oistrakh and Leonid Kogan I have the old tape of this clever and unusul work. Opens with a hint of Spohr's eighth with touches of Viotti later on. It's great fun and exhilerating stuff if some of you can drop the snobism.
