Initially, Thi Tuyet Duong and her family were working as manufacture
employees since they did not have enough capital to establish their own
manufacturing business. In 1998, Thi Tuyet Duong joined the microfinance
institution TYM. Being a dynamic and persevering person, Thi Tuyet Duong has
been building up her microenterprise and invested in copper art crafts, a local
traditional craft form, thanks to a microloan of 21 Euros. She started up as a
small manufacturing unit producing incense burners; flower vases; statues etc.
Today, after 6 microloans (total amount : about 2,000 Euros) Thi Tuyet Duong
is the sole provider for her family. She earns enough money to pay for her
children's education.
Thi Tuyet Duong has employed 10 people and contributes to the preservation
and development of a traditional art craft, which is an important craft practice
in Vietnam. Moreover, she actively participates in social, community and
charitable activities.
