2010 HVNABA All Star Game at Dutchess Stadium
Sunday night was a great representation of the HVNABA. The 3rd annual All Star game had it all! Great pitching, great defense, and impressive hitting. The fireworks began in the top of the first inning when Chris Daniels took a Jake Slate 2 - 0 fastball over the left field fence for the first HR ever at Dutchess Stadium by a HVNABA player. The NL would score again thanx to a Ryan Ool 2 RBI double in the 2nd to take a 3 - 0 lead. The AL came right back in the bottom of the second, Steve
Aurigemma led off with a double and scored on a fielders choice. But the big blow came with 2 outs, Reds catcher John Giametta blasted a Grand Slam over the left field wall off A's starter Alex Forster to give the AL a 5 - 3 lead. In the 3rd inning Chris Daniels singled, stole 2nd and 3rd and scored on a pass ball. Thats how the scoring would stay. Pitching would take over this game from here on in. Reds ace Justin Cox came in for the AL and pitched 5 innings giving up just 1 hit ( a triple to Redbirds Barry Zehnbauer ) and struck out 6 batters for the win. For the NL Black Sox pitcher Billy Hoffman pitched 2 innings of no hit ball while striking out 3. Sox starter Ryan Ool pitched a scoreless 5th inning while Redbirds pitcher Ron Rabasco also pitched a scoreless 6th. Chris Daniels pitched the final 2 innings for the NL without giving up a hit. The AL got hits from Marlins outfielder Jimmy Feerick, Angels infielder Mike Nassisi and Reds pitcher Justin Cox. The NL also got hits from A's catcher Clint Boettcher, Pirates outfielder Ryan Butcher, and Black Sox infielder Ryan Giorgio.
