This often overlooked TV movie, written by Roy Clarke and made for the D-Day commemorations in 1993 stars veteran screen stars McKern and Alec Guinness (in one of his last and finest roles). McKern plays Cyril, returning to Normandy after 50 years and encountering fellow veteran Waldo (John Randolf) as they both search for a woman with whom they each had a rendezvous in 1944 . The superb cast, along with Jeanne Moreau and Lauren Bacall ensure the material is impeccably performed and this scene in particular always chokes me up. (less info)
