Isn't that Clive Mantle, of Casualty and Vicar of Dibley fame, playing the goalie there?

Who played the mother in that advert? Was it the then-Playschool presenter Carol Chell? It certainly looks like her. Great advert, certainly brings back memories.

Thanks for posting - I loved the theme tune then and still do. I also recognise both the presenters - Chris Vacher, who's still there, camera left, and Graham Purches, who later moved to HTV West, camera right. Great presenters, great programme.

They did a mini-feature on him (Scott Chisholm) in Radio Times a few years ago - apparently, he was busy working for exams at the time and was therefore no longer in the limelight. I remember him acting in an edition of 'Murder In Mind' alongside John Thomson and Kevin Whateley and he had a few o...

Richard Madeley and Simon Potter did indeed host the adult versions of this show, but they were nowhere near as good as Sue Robbie, especially Madeley - I found him very patronising and quite often rude to his contestants, but thankfully he only lasted one series. The show always seemed better w...

Ask the Family: the winners of 1984: who is the smugest?
Smug, yes, but where is Alison Nicholls now? And whatever happened to university lecturers once they got rid of Ask the Family?

This can't be from 1973: I definitely remember Kenneth Williams reading this story in 1986, unless of course he did it twice, but I doubt it. Either way, though, he did it superbly, probably the best of all the storytellers on the programme and every bit as good as he was doing 'Willo The Wisp'.

Camberwick Green - grown-up version

A brilliant sketch in a truly brilliant series - only one complaint, why didn't they get Brian Cant to narrate it? He was the narrator on the original 'Camberwick Green' and so definitely the top choice.
Actually, I remember that News After Noon used to start at 1:00 if Pebble Mill At One was off-air, so I can only assume that this was the case here. In fact, I'm sure of it, because Pebble Mill At One was soon to be replaced by the BBC's all-new daytime scheduling.
