About this user
Two of Andrea's compositions are included in "The European Real Book" and "The Digital Real Book Part Two" by www.shermusic.com. In the 80s he played as drummer in TV shows for RAI Television also with Bruno Biriaco Big Band (82/86). From 1985 to 1996 he composed and produced seven CD of Library Music broadcasted world wide for Primrose, Flippermusic and Fonit Cetra. More than 190 of Andrea's compositions (Jazz and Library Music) have been recorded on CD and broadcast worldwide. Andrea moved to the USA in 1989, spending eight years in Los Angeles and four in New York City. Andrea has resided in Berlin since 2001. Very soon he gained a honorary US Green Card as "First preference Alien with extraordinary abilities in the field of Jazz" He is leading an active musical life. In the early '90s, Andrea recorded two acclaimed CDs with original compositions, "Silent Will" for VERVE/PolyGram and VERVE/Polydor KK and "Oneness" for VERVE/Polydor KK and Lipstick Rec. which won such honors as: Top 10 Jazz CD of 1991 (8), Tower Records' PULSE// Top 20 Jazz/Fusion New Releases, Ad Lib Japan// Top Jazz Pick of 1991 from Jazziz Magazine// Guitar World Critic's Choice, New Releases, 1992// Marcelli in 1993 started to co-producing a joint project with Allan Holdsworth. Gary Willis is on four tracks. The Album has not yet been finished. Andrea produced Chema Vilchez's debut CD, "El sueno del navegante", judged Best Jazz CD of 1996 by Radio 1 Spain. He performed on the film "Mississippi Masala", participated on the award-winning film "Good Bye Lenin", and collaborated with the Rhythm Conservatory of Copenhagen, recording and producing several projects, including Paolo Russo/Bo Stief Alchemy, a Top 5 Jazz CD of 2004 in Denmark. In 2002, he won two awards at the Berlin Jazz and Blues Awards. He also toured Scandinavia with his Scandinavian band, and was invited to Japan to conduct several workshops and tours in '05, '06, '08 and '09. He also performed among others in USA, Brazil, Russia, Germany, Italy, Estonia, France, Spain, Belgium, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Japan. In November 2009 tour India Andrea was again invited to New York to record his third CD, "Beyond the Blue", which was released in 2005 in the USA and Canada by Art of Life Records, in Japan by 55 Records, and in Europe by BHM Music. Players included Mike Stern, Bob Mintzer, Mitchel Forman, and Eddie Gomez.
