About this user
Like the Jena 6, Willie Anderson is being railroaded through the justice system. Let's stop the madness...FREE WILLIE!!18-year-old Willie Eddie Anderson II has been held, without bond, in the Jackson County Jail for over a year. He was arrested on his 17th birthday and celebrated his 18th birthday on September 18, 2007.Willie is facing life in prison despite his obvious innocence.
Originally, Willie was arrested because he got into a fist fight with a boy that was bullying him. Instead of treating Willie as a juvenile, that had gotten into a fist fight, he was charged with assault to do great bodily harm, assault to do great bodily harm less than murder. A week later, a felony arms charge was added and his bail was set at $500,000. According to the bully, Willie had pulled two shot guns out of his pants and started shooting at him. There were shots fired, but Willie was not in the vicinity, and has an alibi. Also, the police found multiple witnesses for the fight, but couldn't find a single witness that saw Willie pull two guns out of his pants. As this case was based on obvious falsehoods, it was on the verge on dismissal.
However, the unscrupulous head prosecutor decided to charge Willie with an unrelated murder that had taken place six months prior. A shady businessman, by the name of Harinder Singh (aka "Juicy") was shot in his store over money that he owed. After being charged with this murder Willie's bail was revoked. According to the prosecutor, Willie was being charged because the "gun", supposedly used during the fist fight, matched the gun used in the murder. By this time, the police report had been magically amended so that it said Willie used one gun, instead of two guns.
At the time of his arraignment for the murder, Willie did not have an attorney. He was assigned a public defender, and was informed that the preliminary exam would take place three days after the arraignment. He was also informed that he was going to be charged with an armed robbery that had taken place nine months earlier.Willie's parents obtained a competent lawyer. Therefore, he was not charged with armed robbery but he was still being charged with the murder.
At once, all of the preparations for trial were halted. Willie did not receive a preliminary exam until he had been incarcerated for an entire year. At this time, he is still awaiting trial.
The Jackson County Police Department and Prosecutor's Office have ignored numerous pieces of exonerating evidence. Such as:
* Police Mishandled Evidence
-Key evidence being used in the trial was improperly
collected, and misconstrued. For example, bullets that
were found (in an already bullet-ridden building) were
not removed by an evidence technician, but by a cop
with a pocket-knife.
* Key Witness Lied Under Oath
-The key prosecution witness has lied numerous times.
This same witness has harassed the rebuttal witness
on multiple occasions. Evidence addressing this was
improperly suppressed by the judge.
* Eyewitness Did Not ID Willie
-the person that saw the shooting take place did not
identify Willie as the shooter.
* Tips On 6 Other Suspects Ignored
-None of the other suspects in the case were properly
investigated. One suspect was given a lie detector
test, and failed. JPD is still refusing to further
investigate this suspect.
* The Shoe Doesn't Fit
According to the judge. A shoe print left at the scene
was the compelling evidence that forced him to bind
Willie over for trial. During the preliminary, the expert
witness could not verify or deny that the shoe print
matched.
Willie was arraigned six months after the shooting had
taken place. The shoes he had on at the time of his
arrest were the shoes used in the lab test. These
shoes were brand new and white. The shooter was
described as wearing black/dark shoes.
A fist fight should not have ended in Willie having to fight for his life. Please do not let Willie Anderson II become a statistic. Help in the fight for his freedom.
