Some birds, and very obviously this one, love getting sprayed with water. It is much like getting rained on in their natural habitat. The enjoy this kind of "bath" and then they will preen their feathers. It is healthy and fun for them.

Indeed. Tragic story and a monumental loss. The poor guy was miserable for awhile leading up to his senseless death .
