Amsterdam 2028

In 2005, the Dutch sporting confederation NOC*NSF began considering a submission to bid to host the 2028 Summer Olympic and Paralympic games in the capital of the Netherlands. On November 12, 2007, Minister of Economic Affairs Maria van der Hoeven launched an investigation into the possibility of a Dutch bid. The 2028 Summer Olympics will come 100 years after the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam, the only Games held in the Netherlands thus far, and they would like to mark the centennial. Amsterdam previously bid for the 1992 Summer Olympics. The proposed new, large football stadium in Rotterdam, which is part of the Dutch bid for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, would also make the Netherlands' second city a possible candidate for the 2028 Summer Olympics, according to Harry Been. Crown Prince Willem-Alexander reconfirmed the nation's interest at the 2008 Summer Olympics.
