Workshop performance of "86 Years," a song from Red Sox Nation, which will be playing at the American Repertory Theater in the 09/10 season. After the Red Sox stunning collapse in the 2003 playoffs, a baseball-obsessed team of musical theater writers (one long suffering Sox fan and two smug yet oddly sympathetic Yankees fans) went in search of the reason for the Curse on the Red Sox. Their journey yielded surprising conclusions and a clever new musical.
***
Red Sox Nation is an exhilarating blend of fact, fiction, and the mystical power of the game. It traces the origin of the Curse to a collision of three orphaned souls: Johnny OBrien, a hard-luck right-hander on the 1919 Sox; his idol, the man-child Babe Ruth; and Daisy Wyatt, a dazzling African American blues singer and the love of Johnnys life. These three lives contain both the reason for the Curse and the secret to its end off the bat of Big Papi in 2004. Red Sox Nation packs a thoughtful commentary on American social history into a fun and spirited musical that will bring cheers and tears to baseball fans everywhere.

Videos about the American Repertory Theater
About Me: The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) occupies a unique place in the American theater. It is the only professional not-for-profit theater in the country that maintains a resident acting company and an international training conservatory, and that operates in association with a major university. Over its twenty-seven year history the A.R.T. has welcomed American and international theater artists who have enriched the theatrical life of the nation. The theater has garnered many of the nation's most distinguished awards, including a Pulitzer Prize, a Tony Award, and a Jujamcyn Award. In December 2002, the A.R.T. was the recipient of the National Theatre Conference's Outstanding Achievement Award, and in May of 2003 it was named one of the top three theaters in the country by Time magazine.

do you have any videos from your production of Donnie Darko?
I wish I could have seen it, along with the whole Millikin Theatre Dept. Once we did your version of 6 Characters, everyone found out that you guys adapted Donnie Darko. We Went Crazy!
