I play Flute and Piccolo (and used to play Violin and Piano), I'm in MYS (Minnesota Youth Symphonies) in their top orchestra (Symphony), I'm in my top band at my school (Wind Ensemble) , I love marching band, I've been a member of the MBDA (Minnesota Band Directors Association) Honor band for three years (eighth, ninth, and tenth grade), and I'm in the 2010 MMEA (Minnesota Music Educators Association) All-State Symphonic Band. I HATE to brag, but I've heard from many people that I'm really good for my age. When I graduate from high school I'm most likely going to be attending either Lawrence University, Indiana University, Eastman, or (hopefully) Curtis Institute of Music. I have attended the OSU 2010 Summer Flute Workshop and performed at Solo Night with Enesco's "Cantabile et Presto". I got a scholarship to go to the same event the following year, where I hope to perform Doppler's "Hungarian Pastoral Fantasy" for the Solo Night. In the last MYS concert, we played "Daphnis et Chloe" by Maurice Ravel, and I played the really long flute solo in the middle. I still get compliments on it. I'm going to be attending the Schubert Club Scholarship Competition (I will be playing the "Cantabile et Presto" and the first movement of Mozart's "Concerto in D Major"). HOPEFULLY everything goes well. For about four years I studied with Alicia McQuerrey, the piccolo player with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. Unfortunately, our schedules no longer work out between us, so I was forced to stop taking lessons from her. But, after some searching, I finally managed to find a new private lesson teacher. For two months now I have been studying with Adam Kuenzel, the principal flutist with the Minnesota Orchestra.
