@ericas46 i agree that the parent should learn asl and encourage there child even with the CI to learn ASL. My son has a CI and we are a sign and voice house. I try and get him out to any event in our area such as deaf chats (coffees). It makes it hard though when people try and judge your choice...
They can play sports just like any other child. In fact the deaf school he attends has sports teams.
