1) It's a basic principle of hypertrophy and muscle fiber recruitment. If you don't increase weight, at a certain point, you stop recruiting muscle fibers.

2) Diet is huge! Exercise breaks down muscle, what you eat builds it back up. Wanna get big? Gotta eat to get big.
