DJ Angel Jr aka Angel Productions. Spanish Harlem's mixed tape king of house and freestyle.
Known in Spanish Harlem as "Smiley" by my childhood friends, However, my professional name is D.J. Angel Productions for my jumping parties throughout El Barrio (Spanish Harlem,) sweet sixteens, 18's, weddings and my much sought after mixed tapes i sold out of Double Sounds car stereo shop at East 106 Between 3rd and Lex. After my day at the job at the U.S.P.S. at Westchester Square, Boulivard Station in Hunt's Point and Mott Haven stations respectivly from 1987 to 2006. I moonlighted as a major nightclub dj at various New York Hotspots, I.E. Chippendales, Les Poulets, El Morocco, Club Deco, The City, The Sound Factory Bar, The Original Latin Quater at 47th & B'way, Club Exit, Sequoia bar & resturant at pier17, The New Manila Bar, Club 2ii's, Nell's, The China Club as a guest dj, The Copacabana @ 57th Street, The Circle Club (Bronx N.Y.), The Winners Palace (Bronx N.Y.) Club Booms (Bronx, N.Y.)and finally The Country Club @ East 86th Street, my last major club.
My style of music programming personified me as one of the last d.j.'s to do all night sessions from 10pm to 6am. Playing a mixture of classics, freestyle, house, Latin house, Breakbeats, Dancehall reggae and old school hip-hop. To sum it up. Each weekend drew a greater and greater amount of old school music & dance loving club patrons. Thus, the much sought after following that i achievied, i will always cherish till this day. Not to mention all of the sweaty club patrons that refused to leave the club at 6am screaming for me to play one more, please!!!!!!! I thank all of my supporters in NYC and i still remain humble as my memories and fan following has served me a lifetime experience that i will never forget. For the time i had spent spinning professionaly. I have had the privledge to be mentored by the legendary Raoul Soto at The Original Latin Quater @ 47 & B'way. From there i have had the pleasure of spinning with or alongside, Roman Ricardo, Sean James, Eddie Batiz, Frankie Knuckles, Louie "Passion" Correa, Little Louie Vega, D.J. Clear, Ted Smooth, D.J. Rei Double R & D.J. G-Bo the Pro, D.J. Casper and D.J. Louie Cosme at many night club venues througout the NY metropolitan area . I would like to give a special thanks to my promoters at the time Non-Stop Productions, Sidney Centeno, Rollo & Jeff Levino and Shavon & Damon. Also, to all of my buddies for their support and love. After a twelve year hiatus i am happy to say that my passion for music still lives in me and i am currently handing my son the reigns of my 1200's & Pioneer CDJ-2000's to my son Kevin if he so chooses to entertain his peers here in Southwest Florida. Otherwise, i still continue to spin for myself and i hope to once again spin & promote music to the masses after a 12 year hiatus, God willing!
